Our History

1998

Founded by Dr.-Ing. Karsten Pahnke and Dr.-Ing. Steffen Arlt.

1999

Strategic Cooperation and USB Development

Nov. / Cooperation agreement with the Institute for Microelectronics and Mechatronics Systems (IMMS) gGmbH. DEZ. / Development of a UniLink USB interface module for Siemens Transportation Systems.

2001

3 Milestones in 2021.

Jan. / Member of the USB Implementers Forum. Apr. / First exhibition at Hannover Messe. Aug. / Cooperation agreement with Fraunhofer IIS for the distribution of USB Cores.

2003

First exhibition at embedded world in Nuremberg.

2005

Member of the 1394 Trade Association.

2009

emsys becomes a member of the Synopsys Catalyst Program.

2018

Takeover of production and further development for ZEISS SMT.

2020

Bluetooth & Network Analyzer

Sep. / Member of the Bluetooth SIG. Oct. / First version of the ELM-41-WM-B network analyzer.

2024

Member of the mioty Alliance. Launch of the Flex/5 network analyzer and nomination for the Thuringia Innovation Award.

emsys Embedded Systems GmbH was founded in December 1998 by Dr.-Ing. Karsten Pahnke and Dr.-Ing. Steffen Arlt. At the time of its founding, the company focused on solutions featuring high-speed serial bus systems, such as USB and IEEE1394.

Today, emsys offers solutions for embedded systems—ranging from system architecture and hardware design to embedded software (bare-metal, RTOS, Linux-based) and driver development for Linux and Windows PCs.
